Twitter announces that it has blocked 200,000 accounts belonging to China targeting the protestors in Hong Kong
Facebook and Twitter have purged hundreds of accounts and some pages linked to a covert Chinese influence campaign against Hong Kong protesters, whom some of the accounts compared to cockroaches and ISIS militants.

Twitter says it has uncovered a "significant state-backed information operation" originating from inside China aimed "deliberately and specifically attempting to sow political discord in Hong Kong."

1 year agoIn a Sunday afternoon statement, the government said it regretted that rally slogans target the police. "According to the satisfaction and public opinion surveys conducted by the police in 2018, 84 percent of respondents felt 'very satisfied' or 'satisfied' with the force."
