It was a peaceful protest during the day in Hong Kong but things have turned violent, as security and police are clashing with protesters who are still out in the middle of the night.

HongKong/香港 has become a censored search term on Chinese Weibo owing to the protests today, as China will never allow the public to see images of large-scale protests. A search of "香港" only brings up posts from users with a blue V. These are either govt or media accounts.
Police say 270,000 people attended at the protest's peak. The organiser turnout figure of 1.03 million represents over 14% of the HongKong population.
