3 month agoCUHK ex-vice chancellor Joseph Sung arrived at the scene and urged students to peacefully disperse, saying that current vice-chancellor Rocky Tuan has discussed with police who have agreed to move away from the bridge, if students do so as well.

3 month agoNot only tear gas but various less lethal bullets were shot incessantly at CUHK students by riot police. Students hide behind trash carts and water horses and threw petrol bombs (closer to them than police) to defend.

3 month agoCUHK head Rocky Tuan tried to leave for another meeting with police, carrying students 9pm ultimatum. Students urged him to walk across the bridge that's been a bitter battlefield for two days. "I will burn the bridge down If you can't come back with an answer by 10." one said

An alliance of HongKong academics says actions of the students were not a threat to the public and there was no need for police action
The MTR has said that Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Wong Tai Sin, Whampoa, Causeway Bay, Tseung Kwan O, Hang Hau, Tuen Mun, Long Ping, Ma On Shan, Heng On and Sha Tin Wai stations will close at 9pm today (Tuesday).

3 month agoA black van just ploughed through the field of bricks and other obstacles on Connaught Rd before breaking abruptly before the more serious barrier on the other side of the intersection. Quickly reversed and sped away. Very lucky no one was hurt
